You may have seen or heard of LiketoKnow.it on instagram or maybe you saw the app in the App store. You might be thinking “What in the world is LiketoKnow.it?” Well, I am hear to give you all of the details about what LiketoKnow.it is, how to use it and why it is such a handy shopping tool!
What is LiketoKnow.it?
LiketoKnow.it (LTK) is both a website and an application that can be downloaded onto your phone. You might also know of it as RewardStyle. The short description of LTK is that it is a shopping application where influencers can link items for others to shop. I should also point out that influencers will make a commission from anything that is bought through their LTK.
To become an Influencer on LTK, you must submit an application and be accepted. Most influencers on LTK are beauty bloggers, fashion bloggers, lifestyle bloggers, mom bloggers, etc. on other platforms. LTK is where anything and everything we buy and show on Instagram or Facebook or any social platform can be linked back to.
LTK is like the middle man. It is a third party affiliate platform. For me, I post all of my outfits daily on Instagram. Each and every item in my look I also post on LTK. When someone goes to my LTK page, they will see all the items from a specific post which are clickable. When clicking on a certain item, the user will be brought to that exact item at the exact store. If the user purchases the item from that link, me, as the influencer, will make a small commission.
How to Use LTK
If you are not an influencer and just want to download LTK onto your phone or go on their website, you do not have to be accepted! You can simply make an account just like you would on any other platform. Once you are on LTK, you can follow your favorite influencers! Simply type in their username to the search and hit follow! What is up with influencers saying “link” all the time?!
You probably hear influencers say “LINK” all the time! I say it quite often on Instagram, TikTok, and on my blog! When we “link”, we simply mean that the item we are talking about is on our LTK page. Some stores however, do not work with LTK and therefore, anything bought from those stores cannot be linked.
Items that cannot be linked to LTK
If you have been following me on Instagram for a bit, you may notice in my stories that sometimes my “swipe up” feature in my stories will bring you directly to an item and sometimes, the “swipe up” will bring you to my LTK page. The reason for this is because, if an item is from a store that does not work with LTK, I simply add the direct link to the item in stories. I do not make a commission from direct links. I only make a commission from LTK links through the website or app. An example of a store that does not work with LTK is Zara.
How to Shop on LTK
There are a few different ways to shop on LTK. I am going to break each way down here!
- Right in the LTK app or website – You can shop right through the app or website and scroll through like you would on any other platform
- Screenshot – If you are on Instagram and you come across an outfit you love, you can screenshot the Instagram photo (if you know the person links back to LTK). Once you screenshot, you will receive an e-mail which you can then click into to be brought to the products on LTK. Or, you can then go into the LTK app and there is a spot for all of your screenshot photos. You can then shop right there.
- Link in Bio – I leave my LTK website URL right in my Instagram bio. Once you click the link, you will see “Outfit Links”. If you click there, you will be brought to my LTK page.
- Swipe Up – In my stories, I will always have a “swipe up” feature if I am showing a product, item, or outfit. You simply swipe up on my story and will be brought directly to that specific item on LTK.
- Right here on my blog – Anytime I make outfit posts here on my blog, I will leave areas that say “shop my look here” just like here. You will notice individual phots with items. Those items are the same ones I am wearing or similar items. If you click any of them, you will be brought to the exact item which is powered by LTK.
- “Shop” tab on my blog – I have a shop tab on my blog and that is where you can find any and all looks and products! Clicking on any of those thumbnail photos will bring you to directly to the item which is powered by LTK.
Why Use LTK?
You might be wondering, “why should I use this third party app when I can just go to the websites myself to shop?”. I also used to think like this before I was an influencer. But let me tell you, LTK makes it so so so easy to find the exact item! It is really hard to find the exact jeans at Abercrombie that you saw an Influencer wearing because lots of them look so similar!
I want to be completely honest here and mention again that LTK does give a small commission to influencers if items are bought directly through their LTK link. Think of it as an influencer being your personal shopper, finding great items for you! It is a very small commission but it helps us continue to do what we love to do.
Speaking for myself only, I add lots of items to my LTK. Daily, I add my complete outfit to my LTK but I also add in similar products at different price ranges to help you shop! I try to give a variety 🙂
